Privacy Policy

To provide our services, we collect minimal personal information, including:

• Account Information: When you sign up or log in via Email OTP or Phone OTP, we collect your email address or phone number for authentication purposes.
• Profile Data: First name, last name, and optional contact details you choose to add in the Profile screen.
• App Data: Expense details, group/family configurations, and splitting calculations created within the app are stored securely to sync across your devices.
• UPI IDs (optional): If you choose to add a UPI Virtual Payment Address for settlement convenience, it is stored against your family or participant record. This is entirely optional.

We use the collected data strictly to:

• Authenticate your identity and allow secure access to your account.
• Process, calculate, and display your shared expenses and trip balances.
• Generate settlement reports and enable share links for your groups.
• Pre-populate suggestions from your event history to speed up data entry.
• Maintain and improve app functionality and fix bugs.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

We utilise trusted third-party infrastructure components to manage your data securely:

• Supabase: Used as our backend database and authentication provider. Your data is securely stored and encrypted according to industry standards. Supabase Privacy Policy →
• UPI Apps (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, etc.): When you tap "Pay via UPI", WiseSplitter constructs a standard UPI URI and hands off to your installed UPI app. WiseSplitter never processes, stores, or has visibility into the payment transaction itself.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

WiseSplitter is not a Payment Aggregator and is not registered with RBI or NPCI as a payment service provider. The UPI payment feature works exclusively via Android's UPI Intent mechanism — tapping "Pay via UPI" opens your own UPI app (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc.) directly.

WiseSplitter never processes, holds, routes, or has access to any funds transferred between users. All financial transactions are peer-to-peer between users within their own UPI apps.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. Closed events are retained so you can reference past trip history.

You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app (Settings → Account → Edit Profile → Delete Account) or request deletion. For complete instructions, scope of deleted data, and retention periods, please visit our dedicated Account & Data Deletion page.

All data is stored on Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS) enforced — each user can only access events and data they created. Data is transmitted over HTTPS at all times.

OTP-based authentication (email and phone) means there are no passwords stored anywhere in our system, reducing your exposure to credential-based attacks.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
